  • New for 2018 was the Formulation Challenge, a competitive activity that saw six teams of highly skilled professionals create an innovative personal care product from a box of mystery ingredients.

    Each team had 90 minutes to display the precision of surgeons, the knowledge of chemists and the creativity of artists to prove they had created the best formulation of the ingredients provided.

    Once finished, judges from the Institute of Personal Care Science and Mintel scored the formulations based on their technical merit and marketing claims/story. 

    The six teams of 2018 were Johnson & Johnson, Sabon/Yves Rocher, Delarange, Flores, Herrco Cosmetics and Naturalps.

  • The winning formulas announced...

    The winner of the Formulation Challenge 2018 was Naturalps. Their formula, Swiss 360° Eye Rescue, was on trend, displayed a beautiful skin-feel method and demonstrated a great application.

    A close runner-up to the challenge was Delarange. Their two instant-effects formulas, InstaCream and InstaSerum, had a clear “InstaReady” concept that targeted millennial and younger audiences.
